SEPTEMBER
SIMON RATTLE, one of the world’s most celebrated conductors, returns to his home city, where he began his career with the Merseyside Youth Orchestra.
He brings with him his own Berlin Philharmonic, like Rattle himself, one of the world’s best. Pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy, the Phil’s Artist Laureate 2008, joins him for a concert of great music- making and one with its own emotional touch.
Rattle is one of the most in-demand conductors but he was determined to perform in Liverpool during its year as European Capital of Culture.
Certain of a great home-coming welcome, this is one of the must- see events for music lovers. Philharmonic Hall, September 12.
On October 12, he conducts the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic at the same hall.
