Breaking news – direct to your phone with LDP Mobile
FOR more than 150 years, the Daily Post has been delivering all the region’s news and sport – and now we’ve made it even easier for readers to keep up with the latest developments.
Today sees the launch of LDP Mobile, a site tailored to the needs of your mobile phone, so you can get breaking news, the latest developments in your business sector, sports results and features in a specially-adapted format.
LDP Mobile is designed to make sure stories are as easy to access on your phone as they are on your computer, and you don’t need an ultra-modern phone to access it, as we have ensured it is compatible with most handsets set up for mobile internet.Š
LDP Mobile is free to access and use. There are no charges, no subscriptions and no need to register.
Depending on the contract you have with your network, certain costs for browsing on your phone or data charges may be applied. But, as many phone companies now offer inclusive data or browsing bundles on your mobile price plan, browsing a mobile site is cheaper than ever before.
When you log on to LDP Mobile you’ll find a fast, easily-negotiable website that is designed to deliver the maximum information with the minimum of fuss.
You will find:
The latest top stories from Merseyside and Cheshire; UK and world news and more;
All the latest business news for the region and beyond;
UK and national sports news and views, dedicated channels for Liverpool FC and Everton FC, a golf news section, and a fantastic “Live Football” section that lets you track the latest match updates from national and international divisions and cup games;
Features and entertainment sections offering in-depth interviews and the latest from the region’s arts scene, fashion and design articles in Liverpool Style, and all the latest from Capital of Culture.
LDP Mobile has a number of other handy features for readers. You can:
Personalise your site to get the selections you choose – pick and mix to tailor content how you want it;
Share stories with others by clicking on an article and sending it to someone else for free;
Interact by rating stories and posting your comments to be displayed on LDP Mobile.
Daily Post Editor Mark Thomas said: “LDP Mobile is designed to put the reader first; the aim is to give users a fast, effective way of accessing the content they want.
“We’re very excited about the launch; we know our readers lead busy lives, and the mobile site is our way of helping them keep up-to-date with everything they need to know, while they’re on the go.”
LDP Mobile: Your Questions Answered
IT REALLY couldn’t be simpler to use LDP Mobile, but we’ve tried to answer some of the questions you might have.
Will it work on my handset?
Yes, nearly all handsets are internet enabled, but if you think that your phone doesn’t support the internet or you have tried to access LDP Mobile on your phone and it doesn’t work you should contact your network operator and ask for help connecting to the mobile internet.
Can I use it on my i-Phone, too?
Yes, it works on i-Phones, too. LDP Mobile is much simpler to navigate on a small screen than normal www websites and best of all it loads in an instant.
Can I access LDP Mobile on my network?
Yes, it is available on ALL network operators.
How much does it cost?
We do not charge for mobile content. LDP Mobile is free, no registration or subscription is required, but your network operator may impose data charges. We have done our best to take out all the costlier bits like making our photos just as big as they need to be for a mobile screen and therefore reducing data costs.The costs are approximately 1-2 pence per page that you view. Most networks offer a mobile internet package, so you do not have to pay by the amount of data you download; this can work out the most cost-effective way of doing things.Please contact your mobile operator or see their website for more information on data charges or packages. A good thing is that the cost of using mobile sites has dropped dramatically in recent years.
Is it legible on a small mobile screen?
LDP Mobile has been designed with phones in mind. It is specifically designed for your mobile so every feature will fit perfectly on a smaller screen.
How do I bookmark LDP Mobile on my phone?
Most handsets give you the opportunity to bookmark your favourite sites. When in the LDP Mobile site, open your phone’s option menu and select “bookmark” or “add to favourites”, the site will now be saved on your phone allowing you to select the site again from your bookmarks menu the next time you want to visit the site. In future, simply select the link from your Bookmarks or Favourites menu to connect to LDP Mobile.
How do I personalise the LDP Mobile site?
LDP Mobile can be customised according to your preferences. Click on “Personalise My Post” – this can be found at the bottom of the homepage. This will take you to a page that gives you the option to select the content that you want to see displayed on the homepage every time you visit. You can select from News, Business, Sport, and Features and Entertainment. You can also personalise the site to deliver the content you want.
What do I get on LDP Mobile?
LDP Mobile contains all the great content of our website, but in a format especially for mobiles. The site has been designed with mobiles in mind – it’s faster and cheaper than looking at a normal website on your phone.
LDP Mobile automatically updates news and stories throughout the day.
