THE great and good of Liverpool could be honoured for their devotion to the city on a new Sunset Strip-style Walk of Fame.
But, rather than celebrate just the famous, plans are afoot to recognise those who have made a genuine contribution to improving people’s lives.
A motion is being put before council bosses next week seeking approval to move forward with the plan.
If agreed, the council will look at the feasibility of a Walk of Fame to celebrate the roles played by people who have made their marks, including those in the worlds of art, education, science and medicine as well as showbusiness stars, footballers and a number of other sporting icons.
Although no definite sites have been identified yet, there is a strong possibility the Walk of Fame will be somewhere within the waterfront World Heritage site.
Liberal Democrat Cllr Laurence Sidorczuk, deputy enterprise and tourism executive, said he thought it important to recognise success in the city.
