New Liverpool eaterie in Heathcotes old unit

THE teams behind city restaurant Puschka and shop Microzine are to open a new eaterie in the unit vacated by Heathcotes.

The new bar and restaurant, Home Canteen, has been created by Doug Eglin, Glen Dumbell and Chris and Jill Lee.

Mr Lee said:“We’ve eaten in Puschka for years and always loved the food. When we found out that the old Heathcotes unit was about to become available, we got talking to Doug and Glen about opening up a restaurant and bar that captures the spirit of Puschka at this end of town.”

The menu offers traditional favourites such as roast oxtail soup with horseradish dumplings, lamb chops with Lancashire hot pot, roast rolled pork, sage and onion stuffing and old-fashioned puddings.

Mr Lee said: “We’re going to be offering some great lunch deals. There’s a lot of competition in that area and no-one really wants to be paying £17 for one course at lunchtime. We’re offering good value, high quality food at a price people want to pay.”

The venue, which opens this month, also houses a cocktail bar and has an evening menu.
