Oscars show Hollywood’s latest sweetheart to be quite a J.Law unto herself (VIDEO)

Jennifer Lawrence

A LITTLE under a year ago I dashed out a column lambasting a young up and coming actress for complaining about having to dye her hair brown for her role in a new movie franchise.

The franchise was The Hunger Games and the actress was Jennifer Lawrence. At the time I was outraged that film makers had reportedly been forced to shell out $30,000 on wigs because the 21-year-old didn’t want them experimenting on her sun-kissed blonde locks.

Having now seen her mesmerising turn in Silver Linings Playbook, not to mention the raucous round of interviews in which she has happily discussed everything from the unevenness of her breasts (on Jimmy Kimmel Live) to her “pants falling off” at the SAG awards (to Piers Morgan), I say if the hair stories were true, then she is worth every penny. And then some.

And just when I thought I couldn’t love Jennifer any more – she goes and falls over on her way to pick up her Best Actress statuette at the Oscars, the victim of her fabulously over the top Dior couture ballgown.

Being quite the baby giraffe myself I see a kindred spirit here.

Hollywood’s sweetheart she may be but she drinks, falls down, talks about “brain farts”, swears in interviews and gets giddy about meeting fellow stars.

It is too cute for words and the septuagenarian superstar is clearly quite taken with the actress.

In a world where so many young starlets are terrified to speak for fear people will form an opinion, any opinion of them, J.Law – as the press and her old classmates affectionately dub her – is not so much a breath of fresh air as a hurricane.

Oh, and did I mention she is beautiful? She may believe that in Hollywood terms she is “obese” and a “fat actress” but Vanity Fair recently named her the “most desirable woman in the world” and she has been signed up as the new face of Dior.

Just days before her Oscar win, the French fashion house unveiled its new Miss Dior handbag campaign in which she is the picture of elegance.

As yet no slips trips or falls have been reported from the shoot.

Despite her saying that she wants “to sit on my couch and drink and not change my pants for days at a time,” it looks unlikely that Jennifer will suffer the Oscar curse that has befallen so many female winners before her.

This year alone she has another movie with Bradley Cooper lined up plus the sequel to X-Men First Class, and less than 24 hours after she bagged her Academy Award, Jen was in a Beverly Hills hair salon having her hair dyed brunette ready for re-shoots for Catching Fire, the next installment in The Hunger Games series.

I’m guessing this time around she didn’t give a toss about going over to the dark side.

This girl has got the whole world at her feet – even if she does sometimes struggle to stay on them.
