Prospects for women setting up in business

BROADCASTER Esther McVey will be the main guest in this week’s LDP Business Week radio show.

During the next edition of the Daily Post’s regular business programme on CityTalk105.9fm, Ms McVey will be telling listeners about how she has started her own Liverpool-based business.

The former GMTV host will be joining Daily Post business editor Bill Gleeson in the studio to discuss the prospects for local women setting up their own firms.

The programme will also include an interview with Rita Waters, chief executive of Liverpool Business Improvement District, the body that represents Liverpool city centre’s traditional shops. Ms Waters will be explaining how Liverpool BID is preparing for the grand opening of the huge Liverpool One shopping development next month.

In what has been a busy week of events in the wake of the global credit crunch, the programme will also consider Royal Bank of Scotland’s decision to raise billions of pounds through a rights issue.

We hope to bring the latest news following the collapse of Knowsley- based retailer Ethel Austin, as well as news of how to enter the Daily Post’s Regional Business Awards competition.

The programme, presented by Bill Gleeson, is broadcast from 11am-noon on Liverpool’s 24-hour talk radio station.

The weekly programme on CityTalk 105.9FM has already attracted an array of top names from the business world.

Former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, Cains chief executive Sudarghara Dusanj, the director general of the British Chambers of Commerce David Frost, Liverpool One chief executive Joanne Jennings and new Pontins owner Ian Smith are just some of those who have been on the show to discuss the big business issues in recent weeks.

And the show has also dealt with the issues that matter to the region’s smaller companies, including business crime.

So tune in to CityTalk this Sunday morning, at 11am, for the region’s best on-air coverage of local business issues.
