Bank funds £500,000 Beatles museum expansion plan

A MAJOR £500,000 expansion plan at the Beatles Story museum at the Albert Dock is being prepared.

The expansion, being funded by Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank, will see the world-famous visitor attraction more than double in size, and it is expected to open in time for European Capital of Culture 2008.

Following on from two years of record growth in visitor numbers, the Beatles Story now anticipates significantly greater growth in the next few years. Much of this will be driven by the 2008 celebrations and the opening of Liverpool's Arena and Conference Centre, the Liverpool One shopping centre, many new hotels, the rising number of flights into Liverpool's John Lennon airport, and the opening of the cruise liner facility.

Jerry Goldman, managing director of the Beatles Story, said: "We are extremely impressed with Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank's positive approach to supporting the growth of our business. This type of support is vital to the future of Liverpool's tourism sector. Our ongoing relationship with Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank will reap rewards for the business and visitors alike."
