DEVELOPER English Cities Fund (ECF) has submitted a planning application for the final £40m phase of its St Paul’s Square development in Liverpool.
ECF is seeking approval from Liverpool City Council for a building, near to Old Hall Street, that will provide 107,000 sq ft of Grade A office space across eight floors.
Architects RHWL have produced a “striking” design for No 4 St Paul’s Square, as the building will be known.
The design features a glazed brow which juts out into the new public square. The external cladding also brings something different to the architectural landscape of Liverpool.
It is finished almost completely in a mixture of clear and opaque glass, which is to be manufactured from a recycled source and has a translucent green tint.
Dan Needham, development Director of ECF said: “We have worked closely with Liverpool Vision and Liverpool City Council to produce a high quality office scheme that will complement the other buildings at St Paul’s Square.
“Our design has many innovative features and distinctive architecture that will not only make it a marvellous place to work and a prestigious address, but also deliver sustainability in the form of low energy costs.
“As a developer, ECF is committ-ed to ‘place making’ and St Paul’s Square is going to be a desirable place to live, work and play.”
A decision from the planning department is expected around September.
