Region’s growth goes on

GROWTH of business activity in the North West private sector moved further ahead of the UK average in July, accelerating for the sixth consecutive month to the highest rate since April 2006, according to the latest study by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Data from July’s North West PMI report underlined the recent strengthening of business conditions in the region, which was the second-fastest growing at the start of the third quarter.

Philip McKinnon, senior economist at RBS said: “The North West is at risk of becoming overheated, as buoyant demand and rising cost pressures appear to be filtering through into higher prices for consumers.”
