OIL and gas pipeline specialist Welding Units (UK) Limited has won a key deal in the US despite tough competition from American firms.
Welding Units UK, of Rainford, has won a £252,000 deal to supply flanges to Texas firm MODEC.
The order, contracted to MODEC by BHP Billiton Petroleum (Americas), will see Welding Units’ equipment installed underwater at the Shenzi oil field in the Gulf of Mexico.
The business has invested both in stocks of raw materials and in equipment for handling and distributing that stock.
Chief executive Malcolm Peat said that investment had helped the company win the deal with MODEC.
