THE UK chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) says his members will play a key role in making Capital of Culture year a success.
John Wright visited Liverpool on Monday to meet members and discuss his plans for the FSB, which has 6,500 members across Merseyside and Cheshire.
Mr Wright said Capital of Culture organisers needed to make sure small businesses were actively involved in the year’s events.
He said: “Liverpool is going through a massive period of growth and renewal and the Capital of Culture year will no doubt bring many thousands of visitors to enjoy the celebrations.
“I wish Liverpool every success in 2008, though I know a lot of small businesses have so far felt excluded and ignored and it’s important the Culture Company and the Council recognise the vital part small businesses will play.
“2008 will be a great year for Liverpool, but with the enthusiasm of small businesses it could be a truly fantastic year, with a real lasting legacy.”
