ARTIST Ben Johnson will preview his stunning The Liverpool Cityscape painting to the city’s professional community today at the Walker.
Rensburg Sheppards, a sponsor of the Ben Johnson exhibition, has invited more than 250 people for a glimpse of the work before its public launch in May.
Guests will be treated to a presentation by Mr Johnson.
The Llandudno-born artist has been developing the project, still in progress, for more than three years. It captures landmarks including the Three Graces, two cathedrals and the football stadiums.
It is 244cm high and 488cm wide, and also reveals buildings still under construction. Using detailed architectural drawings, Mr Johnson has been able to include the Museum of Liverpool and the Liverpool One development.
The artwork was commissioned by National Museums Liverpool and the Liverpool Culture Company.
Jonathan Seal, director in charge at Rensburg Sheppards Liverpool, said: “Ben’s work is receiving international acclaim and the city’s arts community has already billed his exhibition as one of the most significant events to happen this year.”
