Civil engineers finish first part of clean-up after New Year floods

CIVIL engineering specialists King Construction have completed the first phase of the clean up and repair work needed following severe floods in Huyton on New Year’s Eve.

A burst water main in the Knowsley suburb shut four streets near Liverpool Road and Princess Drive.

Along with Knowsley Council and other contractors King moved in to take part in an emergency clean-up operation. All debris and waste has now been removed and 100% recycled and re-used at the site.

Work continues to the repair of the collapsed embankment on Liverpool Road and the surrounding area where a team of 15 technicians is permanently based, carrying out a range of services.

Mark Doyle, King Construction managing director, said: “The flooding at Huyton caused severe damage and disruption to the lives of many people in the area.

“We have been able to deliver a solution and provide a service that fulfils the needs of both the community and our partnering organisations.”
