LIVERPOOL’s Cains Beer Company says its deal to sell raisin beer in hundreds of Morrisons supermarkets in the UK is a major milestone in its plan to become a national household name.
Cains’ Fine Raisin fruit beer is now being sold in 220 Morrisons stores throughout the country and the company is seeking deals with other major chains. The move comes just weeks after the brew, which is also sold at London’s Tate Modern gallery, was named the best fruit beer in the world.
Cains is well-known throughout the North West but its owners, the brothers Ajmail and Sudarghara Dusanj, say they want the brand to be recognised nationwide as one of the country’s leading craft brewers. Ajmail Dusanj said: “We have been predominantly a North West brewery.
“Our ultimate goal is to be a niche craft brewer across the country. We brew all kinds of beers – lagers, stouts and fruit beers.
“This just reinforces the message.”
Mr Dusanj said Cains was “definitely” looking to secure more national deals with other supermarket chains. The raisin beer was named World’s Best Fruit Beer in the World Beer Awards 2007 in November.
Cains chief executive Sudarghara Dusanj said: “In recent years imported fruit beers have become very popular so for our British-brewed fruit beer to secure such a high-profile listing is a fantastic achievement.”
