THE Old Hall Street entrance of Moorfields train station is to have its opening hours extended, in a bid to bring more life into Liverpool's commercial district.
Paul Rice, chief executive of Liverpool's Commercial District Partnership, will tell an audience at Cannes property festival Mipim today that the entrance will stay open until 9pm from March 31. The entrance currently closes at 7pm, but the partnership has long been concerned that such an early closure is inconvenient for office workers and makes it harder for pedestrians to visit the area's attractions, bars and restaurants.
Mr Rice told the Daily Post: "It wouldn't have happened without the partnership.
"By putting a relatively small amount of funding for a trial we can hopefully convince Merseyrail that there is a case.
"If we want this to be a sustainable, successful business district, it has to operate outside the traditional 9-5 hours.”
