Tea company pledges charity cash backing

LANCASHIRE Tea has pledged to offer more than just a cup of tea and sympathy to service men, women and their families in need.

The company is supporting The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) by donating 5p to the charity from every box of Lancashire Tea sold.

SSAFA has provided a variety of assistance to both the serving and ex-Service communities since 1885.

Newton-le-Willows-based Lancashire Tea has committed its support to the charity and the SSAFA logo can now be seen on the brew’s new look box, confirming that 5p from every pack purchased will be sent direct to the charity.

Paul Needham, managing director of Lancashire Tea, said: “We have quietly supported the Lancashire branch of SSAFA for the last year.

“The more I have learnt about the organisation, the more enthusiastic I have become about the work they do.

“Following discussions with SSAFA, we’ve agreed to increase our support for the charity by taking it national as a tie-in with the launch of our new box design – which we have changed for improved shelf visibility.”

SSAFA provides practical and financial assistance, emotional support and a wide range of services to over 50,000 people each year.
