Expanding printer develops taste for food packaging

A ST HELENS family printing firm plans to expand its business in the food sector after securing a new funding package.

Arteb Printing specialises in printing flexible packaging such as crisp packets and promotional wrapping.

It has now pulled together a £260,000 funding package including a £100,000 loan from Merseyside Special Investment Fund’s Small Firms Fund and directors’ own investment.

Arteb was founded 30 years ago and is now run by Peter Parisi and his sons, Simon and Antony. It employs 20 people and plans to take on five more.

Director Simon Parisi said: “This latest funding follows a recent £1m investment in new hi-tech machinery and will provide us with the capital we need to develop the business further and grow our customer base”

“We operate in a niche market and are one of the only printing firms in the UK that can provide very short print runs – as little as five kilos. The food sector is an area in which we are particularly looking to grow the business and we are currently working towards our British Retail Consortium (BRC) accreditation which regulates branded food products.

“Once this is approved it will enable us to work for any food producer throughout Europe.”
