A STORAGE company has expanded into Warrington in a £1.21m investment.
A disused building near Warrington Wolves’ stadium has been turned into a giant self-storage unit from where Smart Storage will operate.
Initially, the site will offer 15,000 sq ft of space but this will grow to 36,000 sq ft.
The Warrington expansion follows successful launches in Wirral, Liverpool and Widnes during the past two years. Further units are to be opened across the north of England this year.
The expansion is being funded by Bridges Ventures and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Self-storage is a huge sector in the US, but has only recently started to take off in the UK.
Managing director Jon Wyles said: “We expect about 70% of our cust- omer base to be resid- ential and the rest com- mercial. Our customers include people moving home and storing the contents of their house, to those just wanting a good clear-out.”
He added: “We also work with a lot of professional firms wanting to store documents in a clean, dry and secure environment as well as those in the construction industry.”
Smart Storage customers have their own key and can open their storage rooms at any time during opening hours.
Each customer has a unique pin number to enter their storage room.
