Accountants appoint new president

THE Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants (LSCA) has appointed Michael Cox as its new president.

Mr Cox, who is an audit partner at Liverpool’s Grant Thornton office, takes over from Eileen Quinn after a year as deputy president.

Originally from West Kirby, he has been involved in the society during most of his career and acted as secretary for two years in the early 1980s. In 2003, he also completed 30 years’ involvement with the ICAEW examinations process.

Mr Cox said: “I am extremely proud and honoured to become president of the Liverpool Society in the city’s Capital of Culture year.

“As a profession, chartered accountants have been an integral part of the local business community for well over a century and I am looking forward tremendously to my new role.”

LSCA has more than 4,000 members and is the oldest society of chartered accountants in the country, having been formed in 1870.
