AN INVESTMENT of £800,000 will help create what is claimed will be Merseyside’s biggest self-storage facility.
Corporate bankers at Natwest are backing The Storage Team, a business established just over a year ago, with its expansion plans.
The company is adding an additional 9,000 sq ft of space to its existing base at Lea Green Business Park, in St Helens, and also plans to acquire an adjacent unit on the site, to increase the amount of storage space available to 62,000 sq ft.
Once finished, this would be the largest self-storage site in Merseyside, according to the firm.
The Storage Team was set up by Kevin Thompson, in March, 2007, and provides storage facilities to both domestic and commercial customers.
Customers rent their own secure room for as long or short a period as they require and units vary in size from small household-sized rooms to larger commercial units.
The company also provides office accommodation and business services such as mail address hire and archiving.
The Storage Team’s managing director, Keith Thompson, said: “The expansion is a direct result of demand for quality, secure space in Merseyside.
“This recent investment fits in with our original long term plans and we hope to continue our growth with the help of Natwest over the coming years and continue to provide a fantastic service to all our customers.”
Since launching, demand for space has been high and the Storage Team expects turnover to break the £500,000 barrier after only two years of trading.
It also offers customers services such as free forklift hire and free use of pallet trucks and customer trolleys.
John Radcliffe, a relationship director at Natwest, said: “The Storage Team is a real success story and has achieved a great deal in a short space of time.
“The increased capacity and additional units will allow them to continue with their ambitious plans for growth.”
