Barclays switches commercial banking team to new offices

BARCLAYS has relocated its Liverpool commercial banking team from Moorfields to 20, Chapel Street, in a move first revealed by the Daily Post.

The 38-strong team has taken residence on the 13th floor of the new office development. A small number of private wealth bankers will also be based there.

Rikki Griffiths, area corporate director for Barclays Commercial Bank, said the corporate team may expand to more than 50 by the end of the year.

He added: “Liverpool has always been an important commercial centre for Barclays. The investment in Liverpool will ensure we are located amongst the professional and financial services community, enabling us to serve our customers better.

“Our aim is to be the first choice banking provider to corporates in the city and we will be progressing this goal with vigour throughout 2008 and beyond.”

The group is also putting a Barclays Wealth team in the city for the first time, reflecting the higher number of wealthy individuals now resident in Merseyside.

Mark Kibblewhite, head of Barclays Wealth UK Private Banking, said: “We’ve witnessed continued growth in the city’s financial and business services sector.”
