Water company praised for environmental efforts
WARRINGTON-BASED United Utilities walked away with five awards at the Business in the Community awards in Liverpool last night.
The awards, in their 11th year, recognised the water firm’s commitment to responsible practices, particularly in seeking solutions to minimise its environmental impact.
Marketing and communications company Corporate Culture was also among 14 North West firms recognised last night for their commitment to responsible business practice with a Big Tick award.
The Speke firm received the Business in the Community award at Liverpool’s Crowne Plaza because of its environmental management plan and investment in social projects.
Berrybridge Housing Schools’ Support Programme received a Big Tick for raising the achievement of young people through sustainable partnerships with Liverpool schools.
Reduced waste and using less packaging gained Diageo’s Runcorn beer packaging plant a Big Tick in the eco-efficiency section.
Stephen Howard, chief executive of Business in the Community, said: “Those who achieve the Big Tick are leading companies, ones that run their businesses aware that they depend above all on the talent, innovation and loyalty of their people.”
