Print firm takes title at LDP Business HUB
SPECIALIST printing firm WTP Technics won the Business Booster competition to close the two-day LDP Business HUB at the Echo Arena.
WTP was chosen from four firms at yesterday’s final which saw director Falk Zimmermann pitch to a panel of judges.
They included Tony McDonough, deputy business editor of the Daily Post; Mark Dickinson, business development director for Trinity Mirror NW2; Steve Masters, of Livewire Capital; Gill Torres, of Greenhouse Marketing; and John Haynes, director of the International Coaching Academy.
Wirral-based WTP will receive marketing support for the year courtesy of Greenhouse Marketing, one year’s free web hosting and IT support courtesy of Seven Technology, accountancy services and support from Balance Financial Management, business training from John Haynes at the International Coaching Academy and monthly business mentoring and support from Businesssquared.
The company offers specialist printing and reflective coating services. German-born Mr Zimmermann said: “It is fantastic to win because I need all the help and support I can get. I am very passionate about our product and it is not unusual for me to get into the factory at 6am and not leave until midnight.”
The Business Booster runners-up were Scantech Services, Mechetric Services and Myriad Travel.
Yesterday, the LDP Business HUB attracted some of the city’s business leaders, including Joanne Jennings, chief executive of Liverpool One; Jim Gill, chairman of Liverpool Vision; The Mersey Partnership chief executive Lor- raine Rogers; and Liverpool City Council leader Warren Bradley.
The keynote speaker was Gü Chocolate Puds founder James Averdieck who told an audience of the region’s business people that “chocolate has the same effect on a woman’s brain as falling in love” before trying to persuade them to follow their dream.
“It’s one thing to have a business idea, lots of people have business ideas,” said Mr Averdieck. “It’s quite another to do something about it.”
