CHEMICAL distillation company Albion Distillation Services has been acquired by Veolia Environmental Services.
The Garston-based firm, which employs 23 people, was a division of Albion Chemicals, a chemical distibutor which is part of global firm Brenntag.
Albion Distillation provides toll recycling services to pharmaceutical and agrochemical companies, where spent solvents are recycled and then returned to the firms, and also supplies recovered solvents to the petrochemical industry.
In its most recent published accounts, Albion Distillation made a profit of £282,000 on a turnover of £2.9m in the year to December 2006.
Veolia said the acquisition will enable it to expand its solvent recovery activities in the UK and complements its waste management services to the industrial sector.
Jean-Dominique Mallet, chief executive of Veolia Environmental Services said: “The acquisition of Albion Distillation represents an excellent fit with our business and will allow us to expand our industrial market share.
“The move will broaden our offering to existing and potential customers.”
