A BEATLES tribute band that was backed as a business venture by Liverpool-based Alliance Fund Managers will this week take to the stage at the Beatles Day event.
The event at the Echo Arena, on Thursday, will mark the 44th anniversary of the Fab Four’s triumphant homecoming to Liverpool after they conquered America in 1964 and will raise money for The Alder Hey Imagine Appeal & Liverpool Unites.
The Backbeat Beatles was originally created in 1994. In 2001 John Lennon lookalike, Paul McDonough, joined the band and also became its manager.
He instilled a more commercial approach.
He secured a loan from Alliance Fund Managers (AFM) through the MSIF Small Firms Fund together with support from Barclays Bank. Mr McDonough said: “The funding from AFM was a real turning point. It enabled us to buy improved staging equipment and increase our promotional activity.
“We now have a large international fan base. We are delighted to be back in our home city to play at the new Arena.”
