HYGIENE specialist Proventec says sales of its superbug-killing steam cleaning equipment have soared by 35%.
The Liverpool company yesterday reported sharply rising annual turnover figures.
It also said it was on the expansion trail after a successful listing on Paris stock market Alternext saw it attract new interest from European investors.
Proventec saw group turnover rise 188% to £14.32m. The rise was driven by the company’s acquisition of an 80% stake in Cornwall-based cleaning equipment supplier Contico Manufacturing for £5.5m in June last year.
The group’s pre-tax profits however hardly moved, rising from £1.32m to £1.34m for the year ended March 31.
Proventec’s subsidiary, OspreyDeepClean, has developed steam cleaning technology designed to sanitise objects without using chemicals and to kill bacteria including MRSA, C.difficile and E-coli.
The technology is increasingly widely used in hospitals and Proventec expects sales to keep rising as hospitals battle “superbugs”.
