Liverpool can be a part of China’s incredible story’
THE executive director of the Liverpool Shanghai Partnership, Dr Kerry Brown, yesterday told business leaders in the city that China is at a crucial point in its economic development and Liverpool must look to profit from the opportunity.
His lecture, China: An Olympian Power, at Liverpool’s Athenaeum Club, in association with the Liverpool Daily Post, examined what China means for our economic prosperity in the coming decades.
Liverpool has been selected to take part in the World Expo 2010, a six-month exhibition in Shanghai that is expected to attract up to 70m visitors.
Dr Brown said: “Liverpool being at Shanghai in 2010 gives it a key place in this extraordinary story. The two cities were linked a long time ago.Liverpool now has the chance to be part, not just of Shanghai and China’s past, but also of its future.”
