Pay strike at car engineers

STAFF at West Lancashire engineering firm Hampson Precision Automotive are due to start industrial action in a dispute over pay.

Over 200 Unite members at the company, which manufactures and supplies precision machined car components, were due to walk out this morning.

The union says the company has decided to “impose a 3% pay offer previously rejected by workers” and that 82% of its members voted for strike action.

Unite says it wants the company to restart talks as soon as possible.
