TEAM GB’s success at the Beijing Olympics has resulted in a massive increase in inquiries from people looking to take up new sports, according to Cheshire-based health and active living website, realbuzz.com
The site, which is the official online partner to the Flora London Marathon, has seen an 89% surge in site traffic over the past month – its biggest since the London run – with hundreds of thousands of people eager for information on the sports they have seen their Olympic heroes triumph in on television.
Site founder and record-holding marathon runner Tim Rogers said: “Team GB’s performance in Beijing has been the biggest boost towards improving the nation’s health for more a decade.
“The jaw-dropping fact for us is that the site traffic figures are up 89% compared to the same period last year.
“It is phenomenal and clearly the Olympics has played its part.”
