Landmark development

WEST Lancashire-based construction firm CPUK has secured a £3.8m contract to build a new development in the heart of Prestwich.

The company is creating a landmark mixed-use development for the PtS Property Group, on the site of the old George Hotel.

The building will house 24 apartments and 10,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space with a basement car park .

The PtS Property Group is involved in mixed-use regeneration projects across the North West, including a retail development in Wirral and offices in Daresbury.

The George Hotel was demolished in 2005, and the new development should be finished this year.

It is the latest in a string of high-profile construction contracts for CPUK. Around 80% of the company’s work is now negotiated, rather than won by competitive tender.

Managing director Steve Burke said: “We have built a formidable reputation for delivering high-quality schemes, on budget and on time.”

CPUK has also started on a £7m contract for an 85-apartment building in Preston, a £2.7m office development for Metier, in Skelmersdale, and has secured a £4m business parks deal with Peel Holdings.
