MORE St Helens students won a place in their preferred schools than anywhere else in the North West.
Government figures for the allocations process for September 2008 show 93% of students were given their first choice of school.
And 97% of students received one of their three options, building on previous years when 90% received their first choice.
Susan Richardson, director of Children and Young People’s Services said: “This is a really outstanding achievement.”
