Head calls it a day after 42 years at the chalkface
“A key moment in my career was the appointment of Peter Arnold-Craft, he made the school better, offered a better education, and built up the school into something like the place it is today.
“The Parent Teacher Association was introduced, examination improved dramatically, much was expected of the staff and every day and every week was exciting.
“Growing up as a young sports teacher was extremely exciting and fun and the school began to specialise in sport, music and drama.
“We suddenly became large, strong and successful and by 1989, we were a force to be reckoned with.”
AND, in 1987, the success of the school was nowhere more evident than on the football pitch, thanks to Mr Tittershill. The first-11 team became the U19 champions of England, beating Norfolk College 3-1 at Tranmere Rovers ground.
A definite highlight of his career, his success as PE teacher was quickly followed by success off the pitch, marrying his wife Jane later that same year.
In April, 1995, he was appointed deputy headteacher and, in 2001, the school was given £7.5m to relocate or rebuild.
