Head calls it a day after 42 years at the chalkface

“The school has given me fantastic satisfaction in virtually every way and excelled in inspections.

“I’m happy that earlier this year we were acknowledged for the outstanding behaviour and educational standards of our students.”

When asked about any regrets, concerns about teaching, or the portrayal of children in society, he said: “The behaviour of students is far better now than it was 42 years ago, and my only gripe about teaching is the increased amount of paperwork teachers have to fill in.

“My only regret if I could go back was that we lost our pool in 2001, and the students can’t swim any more.

“It had become so run down and beyond repair that it was replaced with a new sports pitch.”

He added: “Debbie Silcock has been a first class deputy for five years, she deserves the headship and will do a good job caring for the school in the right way.”

The Blue Coat school had the best exam results in the North West last year.
