Play projects’ Lottery boost

THOUSANDS of children across Wirral should benefit from almost £1m from the Big Lottery Fund towards play areas and games in parks and open spaces.

It is estimated that nearly 15,000 children and young people aged five-16 years will benefit from the new play projects and facilities across the borough.

The council says the money will fund seven play projects across Wirral over the next three years, help deliver Wirral’s Play Strategy and provide more and improved play opportunities across Wirral.

Welcoming the £881,000 boost, Cllr Chris Meaden, Wirral Council’s play champion said: “This money means more young people will be able to access free play and socialise with friends on their doorstep.
