Mersey schools plan to scrap Easter breaks

THE changes would see the existing three terms remain, but:

The start of term will always be on a Monday, except when it falls on a bank holiday.

The October break will always be the last full week of the month.

February half-term will always be the third full week of the month.

The Easter holidays will be scrapped in favour of a spring break, to be taken during the first two weeks of April. If Easter falls outside that time, schools will not open on Good Friday or Easter Monday.

No school week will ever be less than three days to try to reduce the temptation to take the week off.

Term dates surrounding the Christmas and New Year break will remain unchanged.
