HEALTH clinics, libraries, youth centres and even psychologists will all be brought under one roof at some of the regions schools.
Three projects totalling £6m will help ensure more children succeed at school by ensuring important services are easily available, according to Childrens Secretary Ed Balls.
They are among 101 co-location projects to be funded from a £200m pot, with the aim of ending the days when schools opened Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm. Some will be at other public buildings.
The schemes are:
l Stockbridge Village, North Huyton, Knowsley (£4m) to create a children, family and health campus, with youth centre, providing services such as teenage health, drug and alcohol support, a library and technology facilities.
l Childwall Sports College, Liverpool (£989,760) to develop a new health centre and library, linked with the neighbouring college, which is due to be redeveloped.
l Six sites in Wirral (£927,000) to expand, or refurbish, childrens centres, health centres and primary schools, providing social workers, family support workers, youth workers and psychologists.
Announcing the funding, Mr Balls said: Schools used to be open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, but I want them to be at the heart of their community.
