STUDENTS in Halton continued to out-perform pupils nationally with another set of improved GCSE results.
The borough saw its results at five good GCSEs shoot up from 61.7% to 71.1%, compared with the 65.3% national average.
When including English and maths, it rose from 41% last year to 49.3%, again dwarfing the national average of 47.6%.
Wade Deacon high, in Widnes, was among the top performers, with 95% of students getting five A* to C GCSEs up 6% on last year.
