Warrington and Cheshire outperform GCSE averages again

WARRINGTONS schools maintained a good performance, averaging 3.5% more than the national average for students attaining five GCSE passes including Maths and English.

Those in Cheshire out-performed the national averages as the authority recorded a 1.6% increase in the number of students achieving the benchmark.

Girls out-performed the boys, with results of 57.8% and 48% respectively.

Warrington was among three in the region to show consistency across genders.

In the benchmark targets of five good GCSEs, including English and Maths, 50.5% of boys and 56.4% of girls made the grade.
