LIVERPOOL’S academies have struggled with GCSE results despite schools secretary Ed Balls praising academy results nationally.
The Academy of St Francis of Assisi, failed to hit the government target of 30% of students gaining five or more A* - C grades including maths and English.
It showed a decrease of 1% on last year’s results with only 15% of students gaining five or more A* - C with English and maths.
Truancy figures also show unauthorised absences rose from 3.6% last year to 9.2%.
North Liverpool Academy on Priory Road, narrowly passed the government target with 36% of students gaining the five A* - C with English and maths.
But the results are a 10% improvement on last year’s results.
Belvedere Academy, which was omitted from league tables last year because of its newly acquired status last year has shown excellent results.
