Wirral blueprint for £6.5m Park Primary school unveiled

A COUNCIL’S £6.5m blueprint to rebuild an arson-hit school was unveiled yesterday.

Wirral council has outlined details of its £6.5m masterplan to give Park primary, in Wallasey, a fresh start in a new building next year.

The makeover details came just days after arsonists were blamed for a fire which spread to three classrooms in the old school, which will be replaced.

Education officials confirmed the new school will be among the greenest possible, with a host of environmentally-friendly features, including low-energy electrical fittings, high levels of insulation and the partial use of rain water to power the school.

The new Love Lane premises will have 12 classrooms and accommodate up to 360 pupils, compared with 315 currently on the roll.

It will also include outdoor classrooms and is due to open in October 2010.

Currently, pupils are taught at nearby Poulton primary.
