Win £250 cash by creating art to celebrate Liverpool's Year of the Environment

"We are committed to public art across the network and will display the winning entries in Lime Street Station underpass so that the best of these can be seen by hundreds of thousands of passengers every year."

The competition runs until September 11 and ECHO readers will get the chance to vote for their favourite entries.

The competition is open to all ages – prizes will be awarded for two categories – under 18s and over 18s.

So now’s your chance to take pen or pencil in hand, be creative and enter your illustration for the chance to win.

Send your entries (photocopies are acceptable - we cannot return originals) to me at Jade Wright, It’s Our World/Merseytravel art competition, Liverpool Echo, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L69 3EB. Please include your name, age, address and a daytime contact number.

Terms and conditions

Merseytravel is working in partnership with the Trinity Mirror Group to run an ‘It’s Our World’ poster competition as part of Year of the Environment 2009, and it will be promoted through the dedicated ‘It’s Our World’ section of its various Merseyside publications.

The usual Trinity Mirror Group Terms and Conditions will apply to ‘It’s Our World Competition’.

The Competition will be open to all readers of the Daily Post & Echo and regional titles through ‘It’s Our World’ – a maximum of three entrants per person.

Merseytravel and Trinity Mirror reserve the right to reproduce the winning entries through various media to promote the winners and Merseytravel’s public art programme.

The illustrations/cartoons must be an original and independent product of the person making the submission, which can tackle anything from Climate Change to Recycling.

The Environment must be the primary subject matter (i.e. energy use, water use, pollution, waste, the natural environment etc).

Entries should all be received by Jade by September 11 and all must display the candidates, name, age and contact details.

The competition will be divided into two categories, under 18s and over 18’s, and all ages may apply.

The winner of each category will receive £250 cash prize courtesy of Merseytravel.

Poster will go on display at Liverpool Lime Street underpass for a fixed period (to be confirmed).

The objective of the competition is to promote the Year of the Environment whilst tackling the issues and raising awareness.

Reproduction and display of the submissions will be the responsibility of Merseytravel.
