New Everton boys shine in refreshing win

LET’S BE honest, we expected a drab encounter with two sides hoping to keep it tight and see if they could nick a goal. However, all present at the Reebok were treated to as entertaining a game as you will see in the Premier League.

For a game so early in the season, it was bizarre to see two teams going all out for victory throughout in such a determined fashion.

The ecstasy from the hordes of Evertonians both in the away and home sections of the Reebok when J-Lo nutted in the late winner further added to the cup atmosphere on the day.

Another defeat looks like a further nail in Midget Sam’s coffin, however, credit has got to be given to Bolton for what they put into the game. They’ll be considering themselves to be extremely unlucky to come away with nothing from the game. However, the difference between the sides was that while Bolton were more than capable in attack, they were severely let down in defence. The biggest positive from the game was how much more of a complete unit Everton looked all over the pitch.

The impressive performers here were Baines, Jagielka, Pienaar, Yakubu, Gravesen and Yobo. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to spot a correlation with those players does it? Yes, Moyes deserves massive praise for the players he has brought in during the summer.

The game was won here because of the input from the new boys.

It was refreshing to see that the squad actually has a bit of depth about it now. Although we’re high up the table now, there is still the feeling that there’s a lot more to come from Everton this season.

A somewhat ironic plus from the game was that Arteta was actually very quiet. The biggest worry for me previously was that we were totally reliant on the Spaniard and he would soon realise that he’s given too much of a burden.

Especially when Tommy G came on and changed the game, it was refreshing to see us having a creative force other than Arteta.
