ROY KEANE believes Wigan defender Leighton Baines turned down a move to Sunderland because he wants to join Premiership rivals Everton.
Baines, 22, rejected Sunderland after Keane agreed a £6million deal, with Everton now favourites to clinch a deal.
Sunderland Keane said: “Football is a small world and you hear things through the grapevine.
“I just got the impression that Leighton had his heart set on a move to Everton. I don’t blame him for that.”
