Arteta attracted to stadium idea

Mikel Arteta

MIKEL ARTETA has revealed Everton’s ambition, including the possibility of a new stadium, convinced him to sign a long-term contract.

The Spanish midfielder was rewarded in the summer with a new long-term five year contract that will keep him at Everton until 2012.

By that time, Everton could be in a new state-of-the-art home in Kirkby.

That, combined with a new training ground in Halewood and the prospect of further additions to the ranks, is why Arteta believes Everton is a Club ready to make giant leaps forward.

He said: “I liked everything they said to me. They told me that they are going to build a really strong team bring in new players. We are moving to a nice new training ground, we could have a nice new stadium and we want to be big.

“I want to be part of that.”
