ANY suggestions that Everton aren’t prepared for a long, tough season have been dismissed by goalkeeper Tim Howard.
Everton’s number one admits it is imperative that they start the campaign well and that means three points is a must against Wigan Athletic this Saturday.
He said yesterday: "We started really well last year and it kicked us on. Hopefully we will do the same this season.
"Any team that does not start well put themselves in a terrible hole.
"If you look at the transfer window, clubs are buying all over the place – everybody is strengthening so it is going to be a lot tougher."
David Moyes’s side finished pre-season preparations with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace and Howard was pleased with keeping a clean sheet.
"It was pleasing to get a clean sheet and the boys at the back look strong," said Tim.
"There is competition at the back but there was last year – it is healthy and its good and we are all looking forward to it."
