BARNSLEY are set to step up their attempts to sign Anderson de Silva from Everton on a permanent basis.
The Brazilian midfielder has been an instant hit at Oakwell since going on loan and has featured in each of their last eight games in the Championship as they have moved up to sixth position.
Barnsley manager Simon Davey revealed he intends to contact his Everton counterpart David Moyes after the weekend to extend the loan by another month, which he also did in September after being impressed by the impact Anderson made on the team.
This will take him up to the maximum 93 days loan period allowed under Football League rules but sources in Yorkshire claim Davey will be back in for the midfielder when the January transfer window opens.
“At the moment David (Moyes) is away because of the international break but I will be putting in a call next week,” said Davey.
“We can only keep Anderson here for another month because of the Football League 93-day rule but I will be asking the question after the weekend.
Anderson, 25, was signed by Everton from Uruguayan club National Montevideo, initially on a short-term contract for a fee of £700,000 to secure his registration.
During a delay securing his work visa, Anderson played on loan in Spain at Malaga before finally completing his move to Goodison last January.
But he has made just one substitute appearance for Everton, in the dying minutes of the 2-1 home victory over Charlton Athletic in April.
Meanwhile, the expected Premier League fixture changes brought about by Everton’s UEFA Cup group commitments have been confirmed.
The game at Derby County has been moved back to Sunday, October 28 at 2pm while the trip to Chelsea will be on November 11, also with a 2pm kick-off.
