Manuel Fernandes can play in UEFA Cup, Everton confirm

Everton’s new loan signing Manuel Fernandes is eligible to play for the Toffees in this season’s UEFA Cup, the club have confirmed.

It was thought the Portuguese midfielder would be cup-tied because of his involvement in the Champions League for Valencia earlier this season.

Everton, however, will take advantage of a ruling which allows a club to add to their list of registered players for the competition before February 1.

David Moyes had named just 24 of a possible 25 players in their list of registered players before the start of the competition and will make the 21-year-old the final name.
