MARK LAWRENSON: Fiorentina are not insurmountable

IT’S expected to be a real test of Everton’s UEFA Cup ambitions in Florence on Thursday.

And it is a tough draw for their last 16 tie.

But the days of going to Italy and coming back with your tail between your legs are gone.

Take the top two or three sides out of Serie A and there are some very ordinary teams about.

Not that Fiorentina are necessarily in that category – but they’re nothing Everton can’t handle.

Certainly not if they are as cute away from home as they have been in their other European away games this season.

So I reckon Everton just need to make sure they return still in contention.

Achieve that and, the way they’ve been playing, you would fancy them to go through.
