MARK LAWRENSON: Everton FC, not Chelsea, in mood for FA Cup success

THERE’S something about the aura and mood around a club that can play a big part in deciding the destiny of a major trophy.

The feelgood factor around Goodison Park at the moment is inspirational. There is such a carefree attitude towards everything at the moment and that was evident both before and after the West Ham game on Saturday.

There’s nothing that can dampen that mood and we all know it will continue right up until 3pm – and hopefully beyond – on Saturday, May 30.

Contrast all that to how Chelsea are approaching the final.

They will still, of course, be firm favourites. But it’s almost certain they will have lost their place in the top two in the Premier League by then and, coupled with their Champions League ambitions dying, there is a distinct sense of disappointment.

And their manager is on the way too – preparation far from ideal for an FA Cup final.
