STEVEN Pienaar has expressed his pride in helping Everton to a fine season but admits he could be tempted with a move away from the Premier League.

Speculation is mounting that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are preparing to test Everton’s resolve over the South African, who has only two years remaining on his contract at Goodison Park.

Pienaar has urged the club to offer him a new deal and thus secure his future with David Moyes’ men but has made clear he would relish the opportunity to test himself in La Liga and in the Champions League.

But the 27-year-old moved to reassure fans talk of a move to Spain was purely rumour and gossip, for the time being at least.

He said: “It is true that I only have two years remaining on my contract.

“It has been a happy two years at the club so far and I am delighted to have played a small part in the success we have achieved in finishing fifth in consecutive seasons and reaching the FA Cup final, but you never know in football what tomorrow will bring.

“Who knows in one or two years’ time where I will be?
